Tucked at the end of the street Mirko Komnenovic No. 9, named after the famous Herceg benefactor and mayor, is located the Regional Museum. The gate of the museum, with rich cultural and historical holdings, keeps formerly famous botanical garden in which there are still the rare specimens of plants of tropical and subtropical vegetation, which brought Mirko and Olga Komnenovic, as well as many sailors. The roar of waves that reaches the garden of the Museum with rich collection of stone monuments, only 42 steps from the sea, transforms during the calm sea into the healing silence, making the garden of the Museum the ideal place for meditation and finding inspiration.
Forest and recreational park and also a beautiful view points, is located near a sacred entity to which belongs also the monastery Savina (church from the 13th century). Luxuriant flora is the reason why this park-forest, that covers an area of 35,46 ha, is known as “lungs of Herceg Novi”. Pine, cypress, oak, hornbeam, chestnut, bay leaf, butcher’s broom, ash, ivy, berries, mushrooms, figs, pomegranates are just some examples of the flora that grows Forest Savina. As an area of outstanding features , since 1968 it is in category III – protected important natural resource, and in IUCN categorization it has a status V as protected land-sea area. At only 100m from the beach, walking through winding forest trails, you will come across on pedestrian, cobbled roads, leading to the gazebo in front of which are revealed generously beauties of the entrance to the Boka Bay.
Park at the Post Office, located in the city center, which can be reached by Herceg Novi main road, is surrounded by the most important cultural, business and historic sites and it is a part of an active urban life. Central area covered by greenery become your own private park, adapted to all ages, from the youngest for whom is provided playground with slides, swings and roundabouts, to the oldest ones, for whom this place is ideal for rest and relaxation.
„Omladinski park“ (“Youth Park”) is located in the center of Igalo, between the promenade and the main city road. With the high ancient trees, paths and benches, it is an ideal place for relaxing and walking, especially in the summer. Over here visitors will surely enjoy the view of the sea, in the shade, under a gorgeous canopy of pine trees of the genus Pinus.
Annually, Herceg Novi has over 2400 hours of sunshine and if you prefer the shade, you can enjoy in the “Ilija’s” park in Igalo. In the park there is a fountain with drinking water, playground for children, as well as tables with chess a board, making this park especially attractive for socializing and pleasant conversations.
To the healing beauty of Herceg Novi could not resist even Josip Broz Tito, president of Yugoslavia. At the end of Igalo, close to the Institute “Simo Milosevic”, was built Tito’s Villa with a park that stretches for 75.000 square meters. Through thick pine forest, through which winds the path around the villa, were walking Tito’s famous guest from all over the world, such as Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton. Part of the park, next to the promenade, became a public area, ideal for day trips, relax and children’s play. For lovers of active holidays, there is a gym in the open and in the immediate vicinity is the beach with its famous healing mud.
Rare horticultural – historical unity, created in the early 20th century, is the park of the former hotel “Boka”. Over 80 species of plants native to tropical and subtropical regions makes this oasis of greenery in the city center. Rest for eyes and soul hereby are greening and blooming magnolias, cycads, wisteria, Canary Island date palm, Brazilian coconut palms, slim Washington orange. At the site of the former garden of the hotel “Boka”, demolished by the earthquake in 1979, where used to sit and create masterpieces writers like Ivo Andric, now there are numerous benches from which opens a wonderful view of the harbor and the entrance to the Bay.

City Library and Reading Room Herceg Novi Public institution City Library and Reading Room Herceg Novi, in the subsystem of National Library of Montenegro, with over 30.000 books is regarded as a modernly structured institution, which activity is based on the application of international library standards. It is located on the Herceg Stjepan Square, one of the most beautiful squares in the Bay of Kotor and it has the status of a public institution. It has about 60.000 units of monograph publications, 70.000 serial publication units, about 90.000 press clipping units, about 13.000 units of petty library materials, three manuscripts books and a significant number of titles of old and rare books and serial publications. It also has several important legacies and collections. Monographs are written in more than 20 languages ​​and 619 books belong to the category of old and rare books. The oldest book is a critical edition of Petrarca, by author Alessandro Velutello, printed in Venice in 1550. With the development of information technologies and hyper-production of information, the library represents modern library – information center. In the village Baosici, in the municipality of Herceg Novi, was opened the museum-house of Captain Miroslav Stumberger, who, is due to submarine service, came first to Boka in 1914 and later remained there to live. Beauties of Baosici and Herceg Novi, made the captains not indifferent, thus, near the place where he came to paint the nature, he bought an old stone house, around which he raised a garden and a small vineyard. He was collecting passionately old objects from Boka and as a dedicated collector he made a large collection of icons, paintings, carpets, weapons, amphorae, old coins, maps, models of sailing ships, which were also made by himself, that are kept even nowadays in museums. Originally from Slovenia, the old captain made his home in Baosici, which was then bequeathed to the city as a museum, open to visitors.
Herceg Novi, a city that has breathed inspiration to many of the world of art and literature, once it used to have a fruitful Art School, which, after it had been opened in Cetinje was transferred to Herceg Novi, where lasted for 20 years. Young artists and their teachers and directors, such as the famous painter Petar Lubarda, Luka Tomanovic, Vojo Stanic, Luka Berberovic, brought to the city a special kind of charm that only artists can bring. The city in the arms of the magic natural environment was the muse of many artists, so there is no surprise that the gallery “Josip Bepo Benkovic” in the Old Town, hidden in the street Marko Vojnovic No. 4, like the inspiration that the artist reveals, has always had a rich, high-quality exhibition program and by the time became the most visited gallery in Montenegro. Gallery was named by the painter of Herceg Novi, Josip – Bepo Benkovic and since 1967 operates within the Regional Museum, as a separate department. In 1967 was organized the first Winter Salon of Herceg Novi, which had a local character, but soon after it was extended outside the city limits and Montenegro and in 2017 it celebrated its 50th anniversary edition.
